News and Notes

Thompson Elementary, please welcome Mrs. Jill Snyder as our new principal!

Dear Thompson Community,
It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I write this letter of introduction to you as the newly appointed Principal of Sandra Thompson Elementary School. I am very excited to be part of a school with rich traditions and high standards for educational excellence. As an educator for the past twenty-six years, I recognize the importance of working with you as a partner in education to ensure that your children succeed.

Before joining the Thompson Community, I have worked as an assistant principal with students, parents, and staff to develop a strong foundation that supports student achievement. These roles include communicating, collaborating and planning with all stakeholders to provide an environment that is student-centered. Prior to being an administrator, I have worked as a Behavior Interventionist and Special Education Teacher. I am confident that with my background and varied experiences, I will continue to promote a safe and productive learning environment where all children can achieve at their maximum potential.

On a personal note, I am originally from the far west suburbs of Chicago. My husband Bill and I have lived in Las Vegas for the past twenty-one years. We have a Maltese named Cooper. In my leisure time, I enjoy indoor cycling and spending time with family and friends.

As your new principal, I strongly believe that all students deserve the best possible education. Therefore, my primary objective is to continue to be an instructional leader who supports rigorous student engagement with each child’s individual learning style in mind. With your support and encouragement, I am confident that we can prepare our students for college and career readiness.

As home, school, and community work together, we can provide the best possible opportunities for our students to succeed. I look forward to upholding traditions, listening to feedback from stakeholders and observing the systems and structures that make Thompson Elementary a great school. Please feel free to stop by, call or email me, as I am eager to get to know each of you.

Let’s have a great New Year!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Jill Snyder
